This was a first big project outside of Oxford as well as the site being much larger than our previous task. The site consisted of a large abandoned mill, a silo and large amounts of open space. Due to the size of the site this task was set to groups of 4. We had to conduct a site visit, SWOT and acquire other relevant information about the area before beginning our design. We came up with the design that consisted of x amount of residential dwellings as well as retaining the Silo for educational use and turning the large open space into a multiplex for local and international businesses due to the poverty levels and the waiting list for houses in Tower Hamlets. needs more
Urban Lab 3 focused on regeneration and conservation of buildings whereby we were tasked in groups to regenerate the area of the Millennium Mills in London. Although the task may seem simple to begin with, some buildings on the site were listed such as the nearby silo, therefore was essential for us to make use of the site efficiently.In addition to this, this was the first section of group work we had been tasked with, proving to the use the importance of working with colleagues.
